Happy New Year from all of us at Thermal Wire and Cable!
In this season of reflection, we wanted to share our involvement in a cause we think is just terrific: the Naples Equestrian Challenge (NEC). Right here in Naples, Florida, this organization is devoted to improving the lives of children and adults with special needs through therapeutic riding and other equine-related programs. Did you know about the many therapeutic effects of riding a horse?
Because the movement of a horse mimics the movement of a human’s walk, riders experience this change in their bodies and receive physical, sensory, and neurological stimulation. This transformation translates to stronger muscles, better balance and coordination and, just as importantly, increased self-confidence and self-esteem. Equine programs have also been developed to facilitate learning and mental health.
The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International certified the NEC in 2000, and awarded the organization the prestigious “Premier Center” status in 2011! Three of our own at Thermal Wire, Mark, Tetiana and Oliva Gegwenwarth, most recently donated time and money to the NEC’s 2012 Bootstrap Boogie Barn Dance (can you find us in the pictures?) Another fan of the program is country star LeAnn Rimes!
There’s still time to get involved with the Hoof & Hike Poker Run, Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Picayune Strand State Forest, with entry forms and raffle tickets available online! Feel free to contact us for more information about the program (or about high-temperature wire)!
